QUOTES: McCaulay, Randolph Talk Chicago Game
Forward Deon McCaulay and defender Mike Randolph talked with atlantasilverbacksfc.com about this Wednesday's U.S. Open Cup game against the Chicago Fire.
How do you think the suspensions of some of our key players will impact Wednesday's game against the Fire?
"The players that will be missing are definitely a big part of this team, but at the end of the day, this is a team and we have players that need to step up. Those players need to come in and fill the spaces and execute the game plan."
What is the Silverbacks' biggest strength going into this match?
"The biggest strength for us is our defense, I think. We have some strong players in our back line. While playing against MLS opposition, they have played well - even with eight players against Colorado, we still came out on top."
What are the keys to the game?
"To play our game plan, hold the ball as much as possible, and hit them on the counter."
What do the Silverbacks have to do to beat the Fire on Wednesday?
"We need to stick together, press as a team, and not get too overly excited and aggressive. It'll be important to keep our composure."
How much will the Silverbacks miss Poku, Carr, and Chavez, who are all suspended?
"It's never good to lose your starting right back, starting right midfielder and your starting forward, but we have enough capable guys who can come off the bench and help us out. Frankly, the guys coming in are hungry and want to prove that they belong in the starting lineup, so I’m not too worried about it at all. We just need to keep our yellow and red cards down."
What do you think the defense needs to do to pull out a win in this game?
"We can't give their forwards time to turn and get looks at the goal. They have a couple quality strikers in Magee and Shipp, so it’s important to limit their opportunities on offense."
