Atlanta, GA (May 12th, 2018) – The Atlanta Silverbacks Football Club has re-signed center back Ebrima “Tacchi” Njie for the upcoming NPSL season. Njie spent time with the NASL Silverbacks and reserve team before becoming a defensive staple in the NPSL team’s backline.

Many of the veterans on this team have matched the philosophy of new head coach Roberto Neves. Tacchi was no exception. “He’s a very good center back. [He] plays the game how I like it in the back line: simple and very safe.”

Neves also noted that just because he is a smart and safe defender, it does not mean he cannot assist the offense. “He also has a good long ball and can find players up in the attack.”

For GM Phoday Dolleh, it is a good sign to see many returning players from the squad he coached in 2017. “Tacchi has been one of our most consistent defenders over the years. I think he is one of the most underrated center backs in the league.”

The 26-year-old Gambian has been happy with his time in Atlanta. “I have had a great experience with this club over the past few seasons. I am excited about the upcoming NPSL season.” Like many experienced players on this squad, he commented on the foundation laid in this preseason. “It has been a productive preseason and we’re now ready to compete.” He will get his chance this week.

The Silverbacks kick off NPSL competition Wednesday night against Emerald Force SC in Knoxville, Tennessee at 7:00 PM. You can see the ‘Backs in their home opener on Saturday, May 26th at 7:00 PM against Asheville City SC. Get individual match tickets here and get your season ticket package here!
